Arizona's unemployment rate stayed flat last month at an historically low 3.4%.

A report from the state Office of Economic Opportunity shows Arizona added 66,100 jobs in August while also adding 3,283 people to the labor force.

Government (up 26,200 jobs) and Private Educational Services (up 7,500) again led the way in growth, something that commonly happens in late summer as schools staff up. They accounted for more than half of the monthly growth.

The largest losses came in Manufacturing, down 1,700 jobs, and Other Services, down 1,300.

The state's job market remains hot. It hit an all-time low in June of 3.3% and has been below 3.5% all summer, something that had never happened before.
