The Thursday evening rally was on the same day Donald Trump held a rally that drew thousands to the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall just a short distance away.
Speaking to a room of about 450 Democratic supporters, Emhoff said reproductive rights isn’t just a woman’s issue, which was a focus of the event.
“I talk about this issue, not because it's a woman's issue. I talk about this because it's an issue for all of us,” he said. “I talk to Ella about this, our daughter. But I also talked to Cole about this, who is our son.”
Many people at the event said reproductive rights are a top issue, including Sharie Williams-Clay, who said she’s excited about the group Men4Choice.
“Understanding that men are out here supporting women with reproductive health care rights,” she said. “So that was one of the biggest draws for us. Of course, Doug coming and speaking is also exciting for us to see what he has to say in support of Kamala, I should say Madam VP Harris. So we're just excited to be out here among people that are like minded, and we'll just see what they have to say and what we walk away with.”
She was there with her husband Danyell Clay, who said he was there to support men taking a larger role in reproductive rights.
