A proposed new stretch of freeway could connect I-10 and I-19 south of the Tucson Airport.
State transportation officials say the "Sonoran Corridor" would relieve traffic at the interchange between the two interstates and shorten travel times south of Tucson.
The Federal Highway Administration and Arizona Department of Transportation are conducting an environmental impact study of the proposed corridor. As part of that study, a public meeting will be held Wednesday evening at the Desert Diamond Casino to gather public comment.
The study is evaluating the social, economic and environmental impacts of several 2,000-foot-wide options to connect the two interstates.
