Following the November election, the Tucson Unified School District has a new face on its governing board. He is Michael Hicks, who maintains a day job at the City of Tucson Department of Transportation. He fills the seat of outgoing member Bruce Burke.

The two joined the studio to talk about the past, present and future of the state's second-largest school district. They discuss the future of La Raza studies, challenging economic times and stress the things the district is doing right: offering choices to students developed by individual school communities.
