If you get in a crash on an Arizona highway, a new rule may mean the accident is cleared away before first responders make it to the scene.
Arizona Department of Transportation crews are now allowed to clear a crash scene prior to the arrival of Arizona State Troopers.
Crews are required to obtain police authorization first, and anyone involved in the crash must be free of injuries.
In a release, ADOT said the rule change is intended to make roadways safer by removing any obstructions as quickly as possible.
State law requires non-injurious crashes to be cleared as soon as it is safe to do so.
