The Tucson Unified School District needs teachers and will hold a job fair Saturday to fill some of the approximately 100 positions that are currently vacant.
Prospective teachers are invited to the fair at Catalina High Magnet School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The district is seeking teachers for all grade levels and subject areas and could hire on the spot, officials said.
TUSD and other public schools in Tucson have had trouble recruiting enough teachers. A TUSD spokeswoman said they will be filling currently open positions and also recruiting for expected vacancies next school year.
A first-year teacher in TUSD would be paid $36,200 dollars a year. Teachers with 10 years experience can expect to start next year at a minimum of $41,200.
