Two candidates in Oro Valley's recall election face challenges to the nominating petitions that got them on the ballot.
A Pima County Superior Court judge will hear arguments Wednesday in a case that asks for mayoral candidate Joseph Winfield and Town Council candidate Doug Burke not to appear as candidates in the Nov. 3 special election.
The case claims the candidates' nomination petitions are invalid.
Both candidates are part of three-way races, with two challengers up against an incumbent.
Hearings in the case are scheduled for Wednesday. Winfield's case will be heard at 10 a.m. and Burke's at 11 a.m.
The case was filed by Oro Valley resident Don Bristow. Bristow unsuccessfully ran for a seat on the Town Council in 2014.
