Former State Lawmaker Enters Congressional Race

Tom O’Halleran switches party and declares his candidacy for Congressional District 1

During his eight-year legislative career Tom O’Halleran was a Republican. Last year, he unsuccessfully ran for state senate as an independent.

Now he is running for the open seat in the 1st Congressional District as a Democrat.

O’Halleran lives in Sedona. The district stretches from the Utah border to Oro Valley and Marana.

Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick who is running for U.S. Senate currently holds the seat. Republicans Gary Kiehne and Ken Bennett are also running in the district.

Arizona’s 1st Congressional District is considered one of the most competitive in the nation.
