9th Circuit Appeals Court to Hear Cases in Tucson

Parties in Arizona and Nevada cases to argue at law school

A three-judge appellate court panel from the federal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear cases at the UA James E. Rogers College of Law on Jan. 29.

Oral arguments will be heard from in two Arizona cases and one from Nevada, starting at 9:30am.

The first Arizona case, Arizona Libertarian Party v. Ken Bennett, concerns the state’s decision to list party affiliation on voter registration forms as Democrat, Republican, or other.

James E. Rogers College of Law Members of the Libertarian and Green parties argue their affiliations should be listed on the ballot.

The second Arizona case, Mauricio Margain v. Elsa Ruiz-Bours, is a child custody dispute among parents who travel between the U.S. and Mexico, with legal actions filed in both countries.

The Nevada case, Adobe Systems v. Joshua Christenson, is a trademark and copyright infringement case.

A photo ID will be required to enter the courtroom.
