Known for a cagey, dextrous style that blends strong melodies with bop rhythm, Joshua Breakstone has established himself as one of New York City's hardest working jazz guitarists. He also regularly tours the globe, having headlined over fifty tours of Japan while meeting and playing with new musicians at every opportunity.
In this extended conversation, Breakstone goes back to the very beginning when he pleaded with his father to buy him his first guitar, and shares how his family's love for music expressed itself in many different ways. From seeing Jimi Hendrix in concert more than 100 times, to early encounters with musical icons Leonard Bernstein and Frank Zappa, Breakstone's lifelong love affair with music has never waned.
Joshua Breakstone plays Tucson on Sunday, October 5th with bassist Jack Wood and drummer Fred Hayes. at Monterey Court, located at 505 W Miracle Mile.
