Sergio Mendoza Y La Orkesta was a new musical act back in 2010.
Since then, La Orkesta has developed a big following in a small amount of time, and are now touring the world with a new member, local music and stomping-box legend Salvador Duran.
The indie mambo group is headlining this year's Concert for Civility at Hotel Congress. The show will also feature Joey Burns of Calexico.
AZ Illustrated Arts looked back at when La Orkesta, Duran and Burns began their musical relationship.
The Fund for Civility, Respect and Understanding was created in response to the Tucson shooting on Jan. 8, 2011.
The Concert for Civility will take place Sunday, Jan. 19 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Hotel Congress, 311 E. Congress St.
