National Park Week, under way until Sunday, is an opportunity for Arizonans to enjoy the great outdoors in many venues.
One such spot south of Tucson offers made up of different components that can entertainment, education and history to its visitors.
Tumacacori National Historical Park includes a historic mission, a cemetery where hundreds of people where laid to rest, and an orchard that is growing near the Santa Cruz River.
The Western National Parks Association is based in the Tucson metropolitan area while the National Parks Conservation Association has an Arizona Program Manager who works in Tucson on advocacy efforts to assist these federal lands.
The National Park Service says Arizona has 22 National Parks, including the world-famous Grand Canyon National Park and Saguaro National Park east and west of Tucson.
Nearly 10 million visitors came to our national parks, contributing more than $700 million to the state's economy.
