AZPM welcomed guests to a special preview of the latest history series from Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr.

AZPM hosted a screening and performance for GOSPEL, the most recent series from Henry Louis Gates, Jr.. The special preview at the University of Arizona ENR2, featured curated excerpts, followed by a panel discussion/Q&A session, and an inspiring performance by the choir from the Greater Emmanuel Grace Apostolic Church.

From the blues to hip hop, African Americans have been the driving force of sonic innovation for over a century. Musical styles come and go, but there's one sound that has been a constant source of strength, courage and wisdom on any given Sunday. GOSPEL, the latest history series from Henry Louis Gates, Jr., digs deep into the origin story of Black spirituality through sermon and song.
