Global Arts Spotlight, a collaboration between Arizona Public Media and the Pima County Public Library, brings people together in celebration of the diverse communities, cultures, and people that make Southern Arizona special.
At this flagship event on March 24, 2021, over 180 audience members gathered to explore and celebrate the vibrant Middle Eastern community here in Southern Arizona. We heard from Fadi Iskandar, a master violinist from Syria, about how he found community and belonging in his new home through his love of music. Later we explored the tantalizing world of Middle Eastern food with Pima County Public Library’s Bushra Faesel, featuring dishes from local Tucson restaurant, Zayna Mediterranean. At the end of the program, audience members had the opportunity to interact with Fadi during a live Q&A segment.
