Arizona Public Media Celebrates 60 Years

KUAT Channel 6, Arizona’s first public television station, began operations on March 8, 1959, demonstrating the ideals of using media as a resource to educate, inform and inspire. AZPM commemorated the 60th anniversary of its launch date on March 8, 2019 with a luncheon in the studio for staff, donors, volunteers and student employees. The afternoon featured an overview of the station’s history, trivia and stories shared by some of AZPM’s long-time employees. The event is one of several that are being hosted to commemorate AZPM’s 60th anniversary. Later in the week, members of AZPM’s Community Advisory Board and invited guests gathered for an evening reception.
