Crowds Turn Out for Preview of The Great American Read

Guests were treated to a sneak peek and panel discussion.

AZPM partnered with Pima County Public Library to present two free preview screenings of The Great American Read on May 16 at the Murphy-Wilmot Library and May 17 at the Nanini Library.

Guests enjoyed an extended preview of the new eight-part series in advance of the premiere on May 22 at 8:00 p.m. on PBS 6. Mark McLemore, host of Arizona Spotlight on NPR 89.1 moderated a discussion between special guests Karen Greene (Pima County Public Library), Betty Stauffer (Literacy Connects) and Niamh Wallace (University of Arizona Libraries).

AZPM also filmed book testimonials on-site. Participants recorded short videos in which they shared their favorite book for inclusion on AZPM's Great American Read website.
