Several AZPM employees and their family members volunteered at a recent Habitat for Humanity home-building project on Tucson’s south side. The group took on a variety of projects, including digging trenches for electrical and water lines, securing exterior wall framing, and installing roof liners in preparation for shingles.
“Volunteers are a vital part of Arizona Public Media’s day-to-day operations,” said Jack Gibson, AZPM General Manager. “Hundreds of volunteers dedicate their time and skills to AZPM throughout the year. Participating in community volunteer opportunities is a way for AZPM to give back.”
For many AZPM employees, spending a Saturday helping families realize the dream of owning a home was the least they could do.
“I think home ownership brings a sense of pride that extends into the community,” said Colleen Greer, AZPM Web Site Designer/Developer. “I enjoy working alongside the future homeowners, and sharing the excitement and anticipation they feel building their house from the ground up.”
